This weapon is inspired by the H&K G11, a prototype assault rifle developed during the Cold War as a potential replacement for full-sized NATO battle rifles. It's most famous for using an innovative caseless ammunition that is smaller and lighter than conventional brass cartridges (allowing soldiers to carry more ammo for the same weight), and simplifies the gun's firing mechanism since it removes the need to extract fired casings. Ultimately, it was not adopted since the collapse of the Soviet Union (and resultant reunification of Germany) meant that there were fewer funds available to re-outfit the newly-integrated (and suddenly much larger) army.
I started with the base game 12.7mm Submachine Gun and removed everything except for the magazine and pistol grip. I then added the trigger guard from the legacy-content Assault Rifle from Fallout 3, the scope and eye cup from the Sniper Rifle, and various bits and pieces from the Bozar.
