“Scout rifle” is the term used to describe a class of practical, general-purpose carbine, typically defined as being bolt-action and chambered in .308, fitted with a forward-mounted low-power long eye-relief optic, and weighing under 3 kilograms (6.6 lbs.) with an overall length of less than 1 meter (39 inches).
This particular model is not bolt-action, but fits all the other criteria. I chose to use the Battle Rifle as the basis for this weapon because I was bored of the Hunting Rifle and figured this could be the Fallout equivalent to something like the SOCOM-16.
I started with the Battle Rifle mesh from the Gun Runners' Arsenal DLC and shortened the fore-end of the stock. I then replaced the upper handguard with the vented barrel shroud from the Light Machine Gun, added the flash hider from the legacy-content Assault Rifle, added the hammer from the 9mm Pistol as the safety lever, and added a red-dot sight made using parts from the .44 Revolver Scope.
