This armor started as an attempt to take the lame pun “Light Power Armor” in a literal direction – that is, armor made of light that requires power to operate. Lore-wise, I imagine this armor uses the same photonic resonance barrier technology employed by the Enclave. It provides excellent protection against energy weapons, but is useless against everything else. Also, its bright, glowing energy signature makes sneaking all but impossible.
I started with the base-game Remnants Power Armor mesh and removed the large shoulder hump, the glowing vent on the back, and all the joints. I then retextured the remaining armor segments using the animated blade texture of the Proton Axe from the Old World Blues DLC.
Having the armor equipped will automatically consume Microfusion Cells from your inventory. The rate of consumption is determined by your Science and Energy Weapons skills (i.e. the higher your skills, the longer the battery lasts), and can be adjusted by changing the
aaaGLOBResourceDrainMult global variable.
The armor was initially designed to fit around the Recon Armor, but at the last minute, I decided to make it so that it could be worn over any outfit. Depending on what you choose to wear underneath, clipping issues could result. I will not be “fixing” this, because it would entail making a new mesh for every possible armor combination in the game.
