This weapon is very loosely based on the British Martini-Henry rifle, which served the British Army for almost fifty years, and some examples were even found still in use in Afghanistan during the Global War on Terror.
I made this gun when I realized that the Lever-Action Shotgun's reload animation was pretty similar to the Martini-Henry's falling block action, and thought it'd be a neat experiment. It's chambered in .45-70 Government because that seemed like the most era-appropriate cartridge available without creating an entirely new ammo type just for one gun.
I started with the base game Lever-Action Shotgun and removed everything except for the receiver, trigger, and action block. I then added the stock, handguard, and barrel from the Cowboy Repeater, and the trigger guards from both the Hunting Rifle and Varmint Rifle.
