The Baby Status Checker is a handheld tool that allows you to examine and interact with the baby. To use it, simply equip it and fire like you would with a weapon, which will bring up the menu. The menu provides the following options:

• Check on her - Displays a message showing the baby's current Health, Hunger, Hygiene and Comfort levels.

• Heal her - Displays the healing menu, allowing you to restore the baby's Health. This can be done using either your Medicine skill or consumables (Healing Powder or Doctor's Bag), if you have them in your inventory.

• Feed her - Displays the feeding menu, allowing you to restore the baby's Hunger. If your character is female, you can choose to breast feed the baby. Otherwise, you can feed her using Baby Food or Brahmin Milk, if you have them in your inventory.

• Bathe her - Displays the bathing menu, allowing you to restore the baby's Hygiene. This can be done using Dirty Water, Purified Water, or Abraxo Cleaner in combination with either of the waters, if you have them in your inventory. Note: You can also bathe the baby in sinks, water valves, or drinking fountains by activating them directly in the world, instead of going through the Status Checker.

• Comfort her - Displays the soothing menu, allowing you to restore the baby's Comfort. This can be done by either playing with or singing to her. Additionally, you can read her a story if you have books or magazines in your inventory, or give her a toy to play with if you have a Teddy Bear, Toy Car, etc. Lastly, you can give her some candy if you have Gum Drops in your inventory.

Baby Food can be purchased from vendors, found in loot drops, or crafted at Campfires using the following recipes:

Brahmin Milk can be purchased from vendors, found in loot drops, or acquired manually by approaching a Brahmin, crouching, and activating the animal. This can be done up to five times per day, and will give you two Brahmin Milk each time.

The Baby Ear Plugs reduce the amount of Comfort lost during combat engagements by half.

Note: The Baby Ear Plugs will not be visible when equipped due to limitations imposed by the way animations are handled in the game engine. In any case, they represent nothing more complicated than stuffing the baby's ears full of cotton, which normally wouldn't be visible anyway.

The Baby Radiation Suit reduces the amount of Hygiene lost while traveling through irradiated areas by half.
